well i finished the book, i couldn't exactly stop reading cuz it finally got good! :)) i like the book now that i have read it all! but anyway, during the hurricane Tea Cake showed a lot of love and compassion towards Janie. I liked that. It made me like him a whole lot more then i origonally had. It made me feel happy about Janie and Tea Cake's realationship and how good they really have it. I feel it was true love and the way they felt about each other is the way true love should really feel. Good feelings! :))
After reading these chapters, I do not know what to think. I wonder if black people are still racist amongst each other today. I think Mrs. Turner is loony, Tea Cake is a stud, and I am going to be really mad if Janie loses him. Tea Cake showed his true colors after saving Janie numerous times (like shanking that dog, SWEET!) and standing up for Mrs. Turner in the restuarant even though she is evil to him. It just comes to show that people with weird names can be superman too.
The events in this chapter made me feel lots of things. Like I felt sorry for Janie and Tea Cake because they didn’t listen to their friend and didn’t seem to pay much attention to the signs around them so they ended up getting caught in the hurricane. I felt that Tea Cake really proved to us the kind of man he is during the hurricane. He really cares for and loves Janie that’s why he risked his life to save her. His actions make me like Tea Cake even more than I already did. I also thought that Mrs. Turner has some major problems I can see why she would want to be like the white people and want her people to be more like them, but I think that by doing that she is denying who she is. She wants her race to be like the white people so they can be accepted but I think that maybe she should be trying to make white accept her race like they are and for what they are.
The events in this section made me feel...that Janie finally found the love that she has wanted in a marriage. Tea Cake shows that he truly loved Janie, especially when times got hard during the hurricane. Janie seems to be very happy with the way her life has turned out with Tea Cake. I also felt surprised that black people are racist against other blacks. I would understand if they were racist against white people, but I can not believe that the black people in the 1930s would judge one another based on the color of their skin. I really like this book now.
The events in this section made me feel happy for Janie and surprised at how black people treat each other. First of all with Janie, I'm happy she found someone that actually loves her for her. Even though TC is 15 years younger than she is, he really loves her and that's nice that Janie found that love-even if I don't like the way she got to this point in her life. Second of all, with the racism, I'm really surprised how the black people treated each other. I guess I always figured they would join together. I think it's sad how they think they need to be like white people to succeed in this world. I actually like this book now which is almost like a mini miracle.
Kind of confused at first. The whole racism within the race drama that is expressed by Mrs. Turner is very interesting. She resembles the residents of Eatonville but with more spite. Then with the fighting in Turner's food place or whatever. It is almost scary how they cant seem to find common ground. After that ordeal, when the hurricane comes I actually found enjoyment in the first piece of semi-action of the whole book! I felt happy that Janie has Tea Cake and that he really would give his life for her. He's a sweetie :)
The events in this section made me feel kind of confused. First of all, Mrs. Turner’s views on black people were strange seeing as she is one. Even if some of her features are different, it’s like she is racist against herself. I was also confused when Tea Cake beat Janie. Janie didn’t seem to mind the beating and accepted it like it was an everyday occurrence. I guess this means that she really does love Tea Cake and that she is willing to take his abuse because her love overshadows the pain. I was also confused when Tea Cake decided that they should wait out the storm. They had no reason to risk their lives and they ended up leaving anyway. The dog riding on the cow also confused me. You would think the cow would get pissed and knock it off or something. -Tony
The events in this section made me confused. Yes, it's true that T.C. loves Janie but that doesn't always make his actions right. In that time it was common to hit a woman anytime a man felt like it, but that doesn't really sit well with me. I think that T.C. saving Janie the different times throughout this section did make up for hiting her (a little). I've gotten to the point that I can actually stand T.C. but I don't think we would get along in real life. Thank God he is a fictional character. :)
The events in this section made me feel... happy. Janie as well as Tea Cake are showing love for each other. TC cares about the well being of Janie, while Janie basically tells him that she doesn't really care if she dies in this storm because the best has already come... But also this section made me angry because of Mrs Turner. I do not like her at all. She is very rude and TC is really good for Janie overall, at least compared to her other two relationships... So she doesn't have any right to put him down.
I actually am beginning to think that there is hope for this book. (Someone Help Me) Anyway, i thought that it was pretty sweet that janie has finally found someone that she can live with for the rest of her life. That is what marriage is supposed to be. I thought that Teacake really made something out of nothing by saving her and making her feel like a woman again. I mean, cmon, what kind of girl does not like being rescued by her lover friend? I also am starting to wonder if Janie has lost some of her need for independence. Just a thought, but maybe that is as much of a boost to their relationship as anything else...
after reading this section i do not understand how people can be racist to their own kind. i am not racist towards brown people partly because i am brown. i know that there is lots of black on black and brown on brown crime in america and in the islamic countries there is lots of muslim on muslim crime, but i dont think it is because of racism. about the thing about blacks being treated better if they were lighter skinned is wierd. i know that in bangladesh (my parents home country) people are also seen as more beautiful or "better" if they have lighter skin. i started to like tea cake more now because he stood up. i still cant trust him because he saved janie because she is his wife and was in trouble, that doesnt mean he wont cheat on her though. tea cake probably would have saved someone else even if it wasnt his wife.

Like i wanted to punch Tea Cake in the face! How dare he! And then the other guys talked about how they wanted to whip her because she wouldn't fight back. Then later he showed her compassion though during the hurricane, but still i have redeemed my feelings of hate towards Tea Cake.
....like the people in this book are somewhat prejudiced towards each other. Ms. or Mrs. or whatever she is Turner looks down upon Tea Cake cause he is darker than her. To her the ideal is white. She is a conformest or however you spell it. She thinks that all people must be as white as possible. I think that people like Turner really need to rethink some of their beliefs...but that's just my belief.

Oh I agree with Tony about the cow thing. But I guess since the cow is trying to stay alive it didn't really care.
