When I started reading this novel, I thought . . .

I thought that I'm probably going to be upset with Tom a lot in this book. He is both a cheater and a racist. I have huge problems with both of these characteristics. I hope Daisy does something about Tom's lover in New York. If Daisy knows of Tom's infidelity why doesn't leave with her daughter, or at least confront Tom about it? Tom's opinion on the book "The Rise of the Colored Empires" and white-supremacy is even more upsetting. I really hate prejudices of any kind. Grrr....

When I started reading this book I became more carious about the relationship between Daisy and her husband. It is clearly not a healthy one considering her husband is a jerk who had a mistress while he has a wife and daughter at home. I wonder why Daisy puts up with it I think that the least she should do is separate from him considering the time period I can understand that getting a divorce could be considered scandalous but I would think that she would not enjoy putting up with a jerk like her husband. I also was a little carious about the other woman mention in the story Miss Baker there wasn’t much said about her but I think that she is interesting and that there could possibly be a relationship that could form between her and Nick.

...that this novel has the potential of being a favorite book of mine. I like the type of character who is a bit mysterious and sophisticated like Mr. Gatsby. The narrator has a unique vantage point and just seems like the nicest guy. Tom is a basilisk and doesn't seem like the type of guy I would want to hang around. I agree with whoever posted before me that Daisy needs to wake up and smell the beans and leave her husband. I have put a sticky note on the cover of my book because those eyes and lips really creep me out. This seems like the type of book that could get really confusing but so far, so good!

I thought that I will like it alot more than Their Eyes Were Watching God. It seems like a book that I could get into. I'm curious if Daisy will eventually leave Tom, because she definately should. Tom sounds like a complete jerk. I'm also curious about that green light that Gatsby was looking at. It seems a little weird that there would be a random green light. I'm happy that the main character is actually smart and can think unlike a certain other narrator who I will not mention. Overall, I think the book has the potential to be a good one.

I was actually kinda confused by all the impressive language that sounds so sophisticated. Now its possible i was just confused because i was half asleep but whatever. I did understand though that Tom is an interesting character with some not so good qualities. He's a cheater. Period. End of story. Hate him. Now Daisy just instantly brings up the mental image of Daisy Duke and short shorts so she already seems kinda like the ditsy blonde type. Nick might just be ok but i'll get back to you on that one later on. Adios!

...that this book seems very confusing. I do not really understand anything that has happened so far. I like Nick; he seems like an interesting person. Tom is a creep. Daisy seems like a good person, but she is stupid. She knows that her husband is cheating on her but she does nothing. Miss Baker sounds like an interesting character. I like Gatsby. I think that this book will be good.

When I started reading this novel, I thought that blue m&ms taste way better than red m&ms... But about the book, I thought that Nick is a great guy and I love his philosophies on life. I think that everyone is being too hard on Tom. I don't think Daisy and Tom love each other so he might as well cheat on her. That comment made me sound like a really bad person. Anyway, she's probably cheating on him too. I like Gatsby though. I think he will end up being my favorite character. And I for one didn’t think about Daisy Duke in short shorts while reading. Get your mind out of the gutter Mo!

i thought that it would be a great book. i never heard what this book is about but it is different than i thought. Tom is a loser. i hate him. Daisy cant take crap from her husband. in every book we have read a woman has a problem standing up to the man. I wonder if this book will have a "good" ending. i hope not. we need a book that is unexpected. Daisy needs to stand up and kill tom. wait dont kill him, this world doesnt need any more killing.

I think that this book is pretty good. It is the first book with a male narrator which is nice. (No offense Ladies) I like the fact that it is written in first person. I think that this Tom character is a bit of a loser but I am not too worried about him till later :) I also think that it is very likely that his wife will not be faithful to him throughout the entire novel. The other character I would like to know more about (and I am sure I will) is the great Gatsby guy. I am thinking that something very sad happened in his past and I would love to know what it is.

When I started reading this novel, I thought that the book might be rather confusing to me. As I read on, I sort of started understanding it a bit more. I am curious about Tom's lover in New York and what role she is going to play in the book. I really hope that Daisy does something about her. She does not deserve to be treated badly by Tom, she seems nice. I have a feeling that Nick is going to help Daisy out somehow and become really close by the end of the book. They might even leave Tom by himself.

I really enjoy it so far. no pear trees or bees... I like the setting of it and how fitzgerald depicted the sound. As for the characters Daisy seems like an interesting character with an odd personality while Tom seems very straightforward and uptight. He is also an ego trip and a racist so im not so fond of him. Miss Baker seems like the stereotypical gossip girl. That last part THE gatsby was interesting and i have feeling Nick is going to find out more that he wants to know about his neighbor...

... I knew that our class discusions would be intense. With Tom cheating on his wife, Nick know Tom and Daisy's fried, Daisy wanting her little girl to be a fool, and then the mysterious Gatsy thing...how could they not be interesting. IF only I wasn't sick so I could actually focus on what we said yesterday and what we will say today.... SWEET. I think we all have decided that Tom is a douche...sorry.....By the way Natalie....by hating any type of predjudices.... well that makes you prejudice agains prejudice people....so then you hate yourself... HA HA.

When I started reading this book I was excited to get into it because I have heard alot of good things about it. I thought right away from the title that if the Gatsby whom the book is name for is a jerk I will not be very happy.
